The Red Wasp Shrimp is an exceptionally rare and newly developed Caridina variety featuring a striking combination of red coloration, bold tiger-style striping, and can have a metallic sheen across the back and carapace. Developed by renowned master breeder Hop from Taiwan, the Red Wasp is an offshoot of his famous Orange Hornet line and carries many of the same distinctive pattern characteristics.
The Orange Hornet was originally developed by Hop from Fancy Tiger genetics and became well known for its tiger-stripe pattern and metallic dorsal sheen. The pattern is characterized by a broad dorsal stripe that gradually dissolves downward into finer markings across the head carapace and portions of the body. Through further selective breeding of this lineage, the Red Wasp was developed to express deeper red coloration while retaining the distinctive Hornet-style pattern and metallic characteristics.
Each Red Wasp is unique. Individuals may display varying shades of deep red, crimson, burgundy, pinkish-red, and metallic red, contrasted by lighter or translucent markings. Some shrimp may exhibit clearly defined parallel stripes across the body, while others may develop broader or more irregular tiger-style patterns.

Individual shrimp are selected at random, and specific colors, patterns, stripe counts, or levels of metallic coverage cannot be guaranteed. Customers should expect natural variation similar to the shrimp shown in the listing photos.
Juvenile shrimp may also appear considerably lighter or less patterned than mature adults. Red coloration, metallic coverage, and body patterning can continue developing and intensifying through successive molts as the shrimp matures.
All shrimp are disease-free and aquarium-safe, bred in controlled environments for healthy and stable individuals.

Tips for Success:
Red Wasp Shrimp thrive in a mature, well-cycled aquarium with soft, acidic water and plenty of established biofilm for grazing. RO water remineralized with a Caridina-specific GH+ mineral is recommended for maintaining consistent parameters. Because selectively bred Caridina can be sensitive to sudden changes, prioritize stable conditions and avoid rapid fluctuations in temperature, pH, or TDS.
