Orange Poso Rabbit Snail (Tylomelania sp.)
The Orange Poso Rabbit Snail is a rare and striking freshwater snail species native to Sulawesi, Indonesia. Known for their long, rabbit-like faces and vivid orange bodies, these snails bring both beauty and unique behavior to any aquarium. Unlike common pest snails, Rabbit Snails grow larger, live longer, and are highly sought-after by aquarists for their peaceful nature and algae-grazing habits.
🧡 Distinctive Appearance
Orange Rabbit Snails feature a striking contrast: a jet-black, elongated spiral shell paired with a bright orange body. Their “rabbit ear” face extensions and graceful movements make them one of the most charismatic invertebrates available. Body coloration can range from a yellowish-orange to a deep Sunkist orange, with subtle variations making each individual unique.

Rabbit Snails thrive in stable, warm, mineral-rich water. They are peaceful and can be kept with shrimp, peaceful fish, and other community invertebrates. Avoid housing them with aggressive fish that may nip at their soft bodies.
Diet
Orange Rabbit Snails are omnivorous scavengers. They graze on algae, detritus, and biofilm but also benefit from supplemental feeding. Offer sinking algae wafers, blanched vegetables (zucchini, spinach, kale), and calcium-rich foods to support shell health. Feed sparingly to avoid polluting the water.
Lifespan
With proper care, Orange Rabbit Snails live **2–4 years**, though some may live longer in stable, well-maintained aquariums.
