Extreme Blue Bolt

The gorgeous Extreme Blue Bolts are the pinnacle of Taiwan Bee shrimp, renowned for their stunning deep blue coloration that completely covers their bodies. These exquisite creatures are a favorite among shrimp enthusiasts due to their striking appearance. In just a month, they mature into breeding-age adults. Blue Bolt shrimp, originating from Taiwan, belong to the Caridina species and are characterized by their enchanting deep sky blue bodies, which may gently transition to a cloudy white tail. The highest-grade specimens exhibit a uniform, intense blue hue with minimal to no white areas. Mid-grade individuals may display a mix of dark and light patches, primarily near the head, while lower-grade variants show an even mix of white and blue, resembling the Steel Blue variety.

Maintaining Blue Bolt shrimp can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor, as they require specific water conditions for their well-being. Ideal parameters include a very low KH of 0-1, slightly acidic water with a pH as low as 5.5. To stabilize pH in low-KH setups, using buffering or active substrate is recommended to compensate for the absence of carbonates that typically help maintain pH stability. With proper care, these magnificent shrimp can thrive for 1-2 years, making them a captivating addition to any aquarium.
