The Blue Boa Shrimp – Mixed/Common Grade is a beautiful and highly variable Caridina variety featuring the distinctive snake-like Boa pattern with subtle shades of blue, turquoise, green, and teal over a primarily white to cream-colored body. Originating from selectively bred Galaxy Fishbone and Pinto-type Caridina lines, these shrimp offer the unique genetics and intricate patterning of Blue Boa at a more accessible grade.
Unlike higher-grade Metallic Blue Boa, these shrimp are not expected to have solid or full-body blue coloration. Common-grade Blue Boas generally retain a predominantly white or cream-colored shell, with varying amounts of blue-green coloration appearing across the head, back, carapace, and body.
Each shrimp is unique. Some individuals may display noticeable turquoise or aqua-blue undertones, while others may appear more mint green, pale blue, cream, or white. Darker black or brown patterning may also be present, creating dramatic contrast against the lighter shell.

⚠️ Important Color Disclaimer: The blue coloration of Blue Boa shrimp is variable and is not guaranteed to be permanent. Their blue, turquoise, and green undertones can become stronger or weaker over time and may change depending on age, maturity, stress, water conditions, diet, lighting, and environment. Shrimp that appear strongly blue at one point may later appear greener, lighter, or predominantly white, and vice versa.
These are mixed/common-grade Blue Boas and are not sold as full-blue or high-grade Metallic Blue Boas. Customers should expect a range of appearances similar to the photos shown. Individual shrimp are selected at random, and specific colors, patterns, or levels of blue coverage cannot be guaranteed.
Juvenile shrimp may also appear considerably lighter than mature adults. Boa coloration and patterning can continue developing through successive molts as the shrimp grows.
All shrimp are disease-free and aquarium-safe, bred in controlled environments for healthy and stable individuals.
Note: All Caridina shrimp are sold as unsexed juveniles, typically between 1/4" and 1/2" in size when possible.

Tips for Success:
Blue Boa Shrimp thrive in a mature, well-cycled aquarium with soft, acidic water and plenty of established biofilm for grazing. RO water remineralized with a Caridina-specific GH+ mineral is recommended for maintaining consistent parameters. Because selectively bred Boa shrimp can be sensitive to sudden changes, prioritize stable conditions and avoid rapid fluctuations in temperature, pH, or TDS.
